Frances Bernice Hunt

Frances Bernice Braddock Hunt, age 85, of Carthage, passed away on February 13, 2025 with her family by her side.

Born in Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Alfred and Alice Speer Braddock.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Red Hunt, who passed away in 2021; a son, Wayne Jessee; brothers, Clyde Braddock, Jr. and Owen Braddock; and sister, Helen Coley.

Bernice was affectionately known by everyone as “Granny”.  She never met a stranger and was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family.  Bernice was an avid reader, and enjoyed doing crosswords, puzzles, and playing Bingo with her friends.  Her greatest treasure in life was her family, that she loved dearly.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Diver and her husband, Bobby, of Sanford and Karen Clark, of Charlotte; her son, Marvin “Rick” Jessee, Jr., of Carthage; brother, Donald Braddock and his wife, Carolyn, of Carthage; sister, Doris Woodell, of Raeford; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Archie Stevens officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The care of Mrs. Hunt has been entrusted to Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
