Frances Patterson Cockman, 90, of Carthage, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Herndon officiating. Mrs. Cockman requested cremation.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Wagram, to Dewey and Thelma Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Cockman. A longtime member of Carthage Baptist Church, she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer for the Moore County Board of Elections.
She is survived by sons, Edward Cockman and wife, Nelda, of Seven Lakes West, Bob Cockman and wife, Amy, of Raleigh: daughter, Carlotta Maples of Carthage; a sister, Virginia Caddell, of Carthage; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a niece and several nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Baptist Children's Home of North Carolina, Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
Fry and Prickett Funeral Home is serving Mrs. Cockman's family.
