Fred Robert Zimmerli

Fred Robert Zimmerli passed away February 15, 2021 at his home.

Fred was born in Medford WI to the late Robert and Mary Dudley Zimmerli.  His early years were spent in Caledonia, WI, where his father had moved after the death of his mother April 4, 1940,

On January 15, 1943 Fred’s father married Evelyn Bosveld.  Fred went to Forest View Elementary School for eight years and then four years at Union Grove High School. Fred served his country in the United States Army as an MP at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  He married Patricia Buchholtz in June, 1958.  They lived in Union Grove, WI.  Fred was a machine operator at American Motors. They raised three daughters and a son.  They divorced in 1972.  Fred married Darlene King on June 14, 1986.  They lived in Racine, WI most of their lives before moving to Robbins, NC on July 3, 2013.  They both raised two daughters and a son.

Fred is survived by his wife Darlene, two sons: Jeremy, Robert (Brenda) Zimmerli, of Robbins, NC and five daughters: Debra (James) MacDonald, of Bloomfield, CT, Lynn Vash, of Union Grove, WI, Karen (Mike) Vasey and Jennifer Wilkerson, of Racine, WI, Jessica Zimmerli (James Kaucic, of Robbins, NC; along with 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters: Carol Battaglia, Spring Hill, FL,  Lois Sterling, Alexandria, MN, MaryNell (Jack) Lockard, of Peria, IL, MaryAnn (Richard) Ramsden, of Gurnee, IL, along with a very special friend, who was like a brother, David (Rosie) Mitchel.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, NC with Tom Nussbaum and Curtis Bauske officiating.
