Gary Burns Womack

Gary Burns Womack passed away April 8, 2019 in Pinehurst, NC. Gary was born on November 9, 1943 to the late Laverne B and Emma B Womack and grew up in Carthage.
Gary was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1968. His outgoing personality and affable nature contributed to his becoming Director of Tourism for the State of Georgia. Upon retirement, he operated his own travel agency.
Gary is survived by one daughter, Sherry Orzechowski (John); two grandchildren, Russell and Nicole Tindol; two brothers Verne Womack (Leslie) and Fred Womack (Paula.)
A graveside service will be officiated by Rev. James Bolyard of Carthage UMC at 2 pm on April 26, 2019 at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage.
Memorials may be made to First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 150 Applecross Rd, Pinehurst, NC, 28374.

This makes me sad! Gary was a classmate at CHS…Class of ‘Ëś62! He was the most friendly….good…down to earth fellow! Everyone liked Gary!

Gary was one of those good citizens of Carthage that went out and made us proud.-Â He started out with two of the best parents that anybody could hope to have and he did not disappoint them or us.-Â Deepest sympathy to the family.
