Russell Gene Maness (of Borden Rd. Carthage) 74, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday February 4, 2017,  what a joyous meeting that must have been.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Glendon Christian Church, with the Reverend Brian Bean officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 PM and at other times at the home.

Gene was a native of Moore County and resided in High Falls. He was a livestock farmer and trucker.  He loved  Carolina Tarheels basketball, football, baseball, NASCAR, bowling and playing rook.  He looked forward to visiting the Smokey Mountains every year.  Most of all he loved his Lord.  He continued his giving spirit as a donor, at his death. He was a son of the late Alex Taft and Ola Starnes Maness and was preceded in death by sister: Dorothy Maness.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Brown Maness; three beloved daughters of whom he was very proud; Cathy Maness, Laura S. Maness and Christina Maness (husband Jim Pedersen), four grandchildren; Jamie Brown, Samantha Williams (husband Dale) Adam Maness (wife Samantha) Brittany Harris (husband Chris); five precious great-grandchildren Ashlyn & Brooklyn Williams, Aiyanna & Michael Maness and Cameron Williams; sisters: Elaine Smith, Carolyn Bunnell, Sylvia Gibbons; brothers: WT Maness and BW Maness.  Many nieces,  nephews, dear friends, neighbors and his beloved church family.

Memorial may be made to Glendon Christian Church 148 Glendon Church Rd. Carthage, NC  28327.
