Geneva Stanley Poindexter, age 71, died Monday at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (May 6, 2011) at 3:00 PM at Red Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Knupp officiating. Burial will follow at Miracle Baptist Church Cemetery in Sanford.
A native of Rockingham County she was the daughter of the late, Israel Noah 'Jake' Stanley and Ethel Hopkins Stanley. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Tony's Grocery for 43 years. She was a member of Miracle Baptist Church in Sanford. A sister, Lorene Beal, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Poindexter; daughter, Shelley Jones & husband, Wayne of West End; son, Keith Poindexter & wife, Julie of Carthage; a sister, Willie Jourdan of Gulf; a brother, George Stanley of Gulf; seven grandchildren, Adam, Jones, Anthony Jones, Jessie Jones, Keilie Poindexter, Cody Jones, Dallas Poindexter & Camden Poindexter; one great-grandchild, Jacob Jones.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
