George Norris Shields, 89 of 1348 River Road, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his residence.
Graveside service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Fair Promise United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jonathan Mills and Reverend Robert Kidd officiating.
Mr. Shields was a farmer. He loved the land and lived his whole life in the same place. His parents, Fred and Mollie Paschal Shields, preceded him in death.
Mr. Shields is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary, of the home, daughters: Besty Brewer and husband Bob, of Greensboro and Jo Duckworth and husband Tom, of Siler City, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Memorials may be made to Fair Promise United Methodist Church, 192 Glendon Carthage Road, Glendon, NC 27252.
