Gurney Lee Williams, age 107, passed away at Autumn Care of Biscoe on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Until 2019, he resided in the Eagle Springs home where he raised his family. On his recent birthday, Gurney enjoyed celebrating with the many people who participated in a vehicle parade.

 

Gurney, the oldest of 13 children, was born on July 23, 1913 in Moore County to Lucas Kelly and Blanche (Morgan) Williams. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Annie Allen Williams; brothers, Madison, Sherman, Hubert, Roby, Worthy (Sugar Tom), Earl, and Wilbert Williams; and sisters, Louvene Brown, Irene Hussey and Arlene Brewer.

 

He is survived by two siblings, Elwood Williams and Peggy Oakley, and all eight of his children: Jessie Love of Pinehurst; Virginia Saunders, Ralph Williams (Marie), Fred Williams, Wanda Allred (Michael), and Dexter Williams, all of Robbins; Louise Lewis of Charlotte and Geraldine Snider (Mahlon) of Siler City.

 

Gurney is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. His grandchildren are: Dianne Mullis (Silas), Karen Britt (Richard), LaDonna Tucker, Tony Saunders (Becky), Randy Saunders (Vickie), Terry Lewis (Andrea), Duane Lewis (Erin), Charlene Lewis, Ricky Williams, Ron Williams (Nina), Nina Williams, Melinda Morgan (Jamie), Beth McCullough (Derrick) and Sonya Dunn.

 

A graveside service will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 16, 4:00pm at Pleasant View Friends Church, officiated by Pastor Quint Dunlap and Pastor Jacelyn Jones.

 

His body will lie in state at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins from 8:00am until 2:00pm on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Pleasant View Friends Church Cemetery Fund, 13942 NC Hwy 24/27, Eagle Springs, NC 27242.
