 Harold Dean Garner, 81, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend David Woodhouse and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at Noon in the Smyrna Family Life Center. 

Harold was a native of Moore County.  He graduated from Highfalls High School.  Harold was a truck driver for 58 years, driving for Milliken Inc. and retiring from Townsend Poultry. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Harold loved the Lord, his family and his church. He was a faithful member of the Men’s Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Men.  When there was a “working” at the church, Harold Dean was always there, usually providing machinery and materials to get the job done. Harold loved working with his hands in his woodworking shop. He made many beautiful cutting boards, food trays and other items that he shared with his family and friends.  Harold was proud of all his family and time spent with them, especially the grandchildren was very important to him. He was a quiet man but a man of strong faith and a good neighbor to all. Harold was the son of the late Watson and Cora Garner.

Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years,  Peggy; sons: Dean Garner and wife Susan, Tony Garner and wife Amy, Glenn Garner and wife Jamie; grandchildren: Addison, Aaron, Austin, Dana, Kristen, Garrett; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 203 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins, NC 27325.
