Harrison J. Speer, age 92 of Old Glendon Road, died Sunday (November 2, 2008)
at Tara Plantation.
Funeral services 2:00 P. M. Tuesday at The First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Rick Martindale. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Priest Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
A native of Yadkin County, he was a son of the late John H. Speer and Lula Hunt Speer. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a farmer and past Commander of the American Legion Joseph G. Henson Post # 12. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Alice Braddock and two brothers David and Hubert Speer.
He is survived by: wife Elaine S. Speer; one son Clayton Speer and wife Lynn of Aberdeen; three sisters Hallie Marsh and Jesse Pearl Tyner both of Carthage and Nellie Ruth Parrish of Savanna, GA; one granddaughter Janet Gatti and husband Mike of Carthage; three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 —8:00 P.M. Monday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
