Harry Eugene Pownall Jr, 88, of Pinehurst, NC, died Sunday March 22, 2015 at his home. Harry was born October 09, 1926 in Mineola, New York to the late Harry and Beatrice Pownall. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and later became a trainer and blacksmith working with equine community at Roosevelt Raceway and Yonkers Raceway in New York. He is survived by his wife Patricia Jones Pownall of the home, two sons, Gregory Pownall of Norton Massachusetts, Jarrett Pownall of Garnersville, NY, two step-sons Stephen L. Jones and wife Michelle of Newburg New York, Jeffery A. Jones and wife Sher of Pine Bush New York and 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. I first met Harry when I worked under his longtime friend Bill Brown at Blue Chip Farm. Harry was a kind gentleman and a great story teller and a first class farrier. RIP Harry ! Chris Coyle
