Hazel Burlein Fortner, 90, of Southern Pines, NC went to her heavenly home January 28, 2017.

 

A service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm, officiated by the Reverend Greg Newton. Visitation will take place at the church prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 pm.

 

A long-time resident of Southern Pines, NC, she graduated from Southern Pines High School and worked in civil service at Camp McColl, then as an admission secretary at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC for 15 years. She was a founding, lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, singing in the choir and active in the WMU. She and her husband met at a dance and enjoyed it for many years

 

She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years George Fortner, her parents, Burney and Eula Garner, and two brothers, Bryce Garner and Cranford Garner. She is survived by son, Ricky Fortner of Southern Pines, NC, two daughters, Fonda Rosenbaum (Gary) of Welcome, NC and Juanita Ammons (Windy) of Hamlet, NC, two sisters, Shirley Cox of Southern Pines, NC, and Pat Branch (Woody) of Greensboro, NC and five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

Memorials can be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2237 Camp Easter Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
