Helen A. Blue, age 86 of Belle Meade Retirement Community died on December 1, 2010 at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the chapel at Belle Meade conducted by the Rev. Carl Naylor. Following the service there will be a reception at Belle Meade. Burial will be private at Eureka Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Helen was born on June 9, 1924 to John W. and Helene (Haack) Allen in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. She married Herbert Nelson Blue on February 22, 1946 and they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they owned and operated several businesses, including Blue Metal Fab. In 1978, they retired to Carthage, North Carolina. In June 1999, they moved to Belle Meade in Southern Pines. Helen was predeceased by her husband on February 28, 2006.
Helen loved music and played the organ at Eureka Presbyterian Church for many years. She was also an avid card player and very active with Meals on Wheels.
Helen is survived by her children, Allen Blue and wife Carol, Betty Blue Krenitsky and husband David, Catherine Blue Bruner and husband James, David Blue and wife Merrie, and Edward Blue and wife Lee. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

  1. I just learned of Helen’s death. I was the choir director at Eureka when Helen retired as organist. What a wonderful lady and friend! We had a sort of telepathy going on between us during the anthems. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
