Helen Laton Marsh, age 75 of Carthage died Friday, September 3, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Born in Cumberland County on January 6, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Harold and Lottie Mae Willis Laton. After high school Helen took a job with the Sandhills Citizen News and after a couple of years went to work with Moore County Department of Social Services and later with the Health Department. She retired after working 33 years.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Danny Marsh; two sons Danny Lee Marsh and wife Michelle of King, Tracy Marsh and wife Tina of Carthage; sister Marie Laton of Zebulon; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Garner and Danny Lee Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 2:00.

  6. I was so very sorry to hear this sad news. I have so many great memories of Helen. I remember laughing at catfish flopping in the frying pan, eating her yummy homemade dill pickles, weekend beach trips, lake Juno trips, picnics and all the fun our families had together during my childhood….She was one of a kind and she had the best sense of humor.
