Henry Baker

henry baker

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Henry W. Baker of Carthage, NC, who departed this life on Wednesday, September 4th, at the home of his son, Henry A. Baker Jr., in College Station, TX. Henry was a cherished father, brother, uncle, “Papa” and friend, known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his community.

Henry proudly served his country as an Army veteran in Vietnam, a testament to his courage and commitment. He will forever be remembered in Carthage as the “telephone man,” a nod to his lifelong career and the mark he left on his hometown. Known as much for his generous heart as for his quick temper, Henry made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Henry A. Baker, and his family in Texas; his brothers Franklin, James, and Ronnie Baker; his sisters Carolyn Musclewhite and Brenda Henson; the family of the late Tula Raye and Lilly Mae Baker; as well as all of their extended families. Henry’s legacy extends to everyone he has offered his heart and shelter to over the years and to all who were fortunate enough to call him a father, “Papa”, brother, uncle, cousin, co-worker, neighbor, and friend.

Henry W. Baker’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home on Sunday September 22nd from 3-5 pm and a graveside funeral service will be held at House of the Lord in Cameron the following day on the 23rd at 2 pm. We will use these days to celebrate his life and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the charity of your choice in Henry’s honor.
