Ilene Pearl Cagle

Ilene Pearl Cagle, 71 of Carthage NC passed away at home on December 31, 2022, surrounded by her husband and children.
Ilene was born in Trenton, NJ and graduated from Bensalem High School. She went on to pursue her love of cooking where she catered and managed several cafeteria’s for several major companies. Over her life she has fed millions of people and always made sure no one was left hungry. She loved to crochet and enjoyed making things for those she loved. She loved sitting on the porch, watching hummingbirds, gardening, fishing, playing word games and solitaire. She was the wife of Pastor James Cagle and together they served several churches and was loved by so many. Ilene was a bright light who brought laughter to everyone she met with her witty humor, and infectious laugh. She is preceded in death by her adopted mother “Ma” Josie Cagle, to whom she provided loving care; brothers: Bruce Lake, Kevin Lake, Harry Lake, John Herron, and Tom Herron; sisters: Penny Mullins, and Dawn Oleksiak.
She is survived by husband Reverend James Cagle of Carthage, NC; children: Hal (Jennifer) Oliver of Hartsville, SC, Melanie Clark of Eagle springs, NC, Monica (Terry) Kennedy of Monroe, NC, Vicki (Byron) Gunter, and Tammy Cagle (Mike Brabham) both of Columbia, SC; 8 beloved grandchildren: Lauren and Makayla Bacon, Ava and Lucas Oliver, Brittany, Kristen, Cassie, and Sydney Chukes; sister; Miriam (Charlie) Holzworth of Levittown, PA; brothers: Donald (Charlotte) Lake of Lancaster, PA, and Ronald Lake. Also many special nieces, nephews, and her 2 fur babies Nowe, and Sparkle.
Special thanks to Liberty Hospice for their excellent care.
A private service for the family will be held on January 5, 2023.

Such a joyful lady. Full of laughter and Love. I hope she knew how much we loved her. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
She always had a smile on her face. She was a delight to be around and always made you comfortable. She told her jokes which got a chuckle from you. Many prayers being lifted for Pastor Cagle and all her precious family.
