J P Sturdivant, 87, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

JP was a native of Moore County, born May 6, 1934.   He was a mechanic by trade and always loved “tinkering” with all kinds of things.   He married the love of his life, Peggy and they have been inseparable ever since.   He loved old vehicles of all kinds, bringing them back to life.  Family was most important and time spent together was very special.   He enjoyed big family gatherings and made sure as many as possible could attend.  He was a son of the late John and Stella Morgan Sturdivant and was preceded in death by brothers: Johnny Sturdivant, Jr., Jimmy Morgan; sisters: Mildred Spangler, Pearl Dowd; grandson: Calvin Harris; faithful dog, Molly.  

JP is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy; daughters: Elaine Lamb, Lisa Williams and husband Ricky, Amy McDaniels and husband Donnie,JoAnn Harris and husband Brad;  sons: Gerald Sturdivant and wife Ann, Roger Sturdivant and wife Helen, Toby Sturdivant and wife Charlotte; grandchildren:  Michael Sturdivant, Wayne Sturdivant, Kevin English, Eric Sturdivant, Tiffany Harris, Cody Strurdivant, Melanie Harris, Bradley Harris, Melissa Sturdivant, Christy Sturdivant, Jacob McDaniels, Amber Cole, Marissa Sturdivant, Richard Sullivan, Mary Beth Sullivan, Jonah Sturdivant; great grandchildren:  Andrew, Audrey, Manuel, Gabriella, Brittney, McKayla, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Gracie, Jason, Landon, Brett, Noah, Addie, Kylee, Ava, Bobby, Savannah, Riley, Addilyn, John Luke; great great grandchildren: Brayden, Sara, Andrew, Oakley, Everleigh; sister: Margaret Luck; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Harris Family Cemetery, 1132 Odell Rd, Robbins, NC, with Pastor Colton Moore presiding. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, September 27, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

  14. May u find these few words from my heart knowing just how u are feeling . Knowing the pain and the emptiness you are going through, I’m still feeling it and it’s going on 4 yrs. But know that he is with God cuz I know that my dad is and he want have to feel no more pain or sadness’s of losing them. But I know he loved me and I he knew I loved him . May his walk with God be as beautiful as he and I can’t wait to join them . Till our time!
