ROBBINS: James Harding Allen 85,went peacefully home to be with his Lord on September 2, 2008. He was born on September 5,1922. He served his Country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 9th Division Infantry. While serving in Belgium,he met his wife,Maria Cuypers. They shared 62 years together.
Surviving are: wife Maria R. Allen, daughter Belinda A. Atkinson and husband,Gerald R. Atkinson of Asheboro, son,W. Jerry Allen and wife Helen Garner Allen of Eagle Springs.
Grandchildren: Mark R. Allen and wife Robin S. Allen of Robbins, Rodney N. Allen of Huntersville, NC, Lindsey F. Atkinson of Asheboro, John Mark Atkinson of Asheboro.
Great Grandchildren: Jenna V. Gedeon , McKenzie P. Gedeon and Austin J. Allen all of Robbins.
He was a native of Moore County. His hobbies included gardening ,lawn mower repair, woodworking and auto repair. James will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday Sept. 5, 2008 at the Crossroads Baptist Church where he attended, with the Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Thursday Sept. 4, 2008 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, and at all other times at the home of Jerry and Helen Allen 848 Gurney W. Rd. Eagle Springs.
