To My Brother
So many joys we've shared,
Dear Brother,
But paths must part us here.
There were also disappointments
We both have had to endure.
You were always there to lend a hand
To a neighbor or a friend;
You fought the battles bravely
Until the very end.
Your troubled days are over;
The needles and pains are gone.
You'll be so very happy
In your beautiful heavenly home.
Say hello to Uncles, Aunts, Daddy and Mama, too;
Don't forget that Tommy
He'll have a joke for you!
Our days here, too, are lessening;
Our trials and our pains;
We'll soon be there to join you
And see you smile again.
Until we meet again,
I bid farewell, Dear Brother.
When Heaven's gates swing open wide
And we'll fondly embrace each other.
Leona B. Patterson
