James "Jim" Levi Everett Juett

James Levi Everett Juett (Jim), of Whispering Pines passed away on March 19, 2024 at the age of 90. 

Jim was a dedicated serviceman and family man who spent his life in service of his family, his community, and his country. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1974 including a tour in Vietnam from November of 1967-November 1968. After retiring from the service, Jim spent most of his life serving in different volunteer capacities including church service, meals on wheels, and as an installer for First Health. Jim spent most of the years of his life with his best friend and partner, Norma. The two met in elementary school, grew up in the same circles and married in December of 1954. They remained together until Norma passed three years ago. Jim was a loving and supportive grandfather. When he had the opportunity, he could be seen with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a smile on his face, especially when holding a baby. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Wilmer Towles Juett and James Levi Juett, his sisters: Deloris Hilton, Patricia Sue Juett Shorter, Faye Wallace, and his wife of 66 years, Norma Joan Juett.

Jim is survived by his sisters: Dorothty Schull and Doris Ortoski: sons: Joel Matthew and David Clay Juett; grandchildren: Jennifer Lester, Jessica Smith, James Joshua Juett, Jamie Juett, Lelani Cole, Wesley Juett, Michael Juett, and Bethany Robinson; great-grandchildren: Joseph, Levi, Noah and Opal Lester, Asher, Hila, Gabriel, Hannah, and Bridger Smith, Jacob and Isaac Juett, Zoey Namkoong, Emma and Maxwell Cole, Everett Juett, Ellis Juett, and Iris and Rosie Robinson; great-great grandchildren: Sherry Lester, and Helen Rose Lester.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Southern Pines United Methodist Church.

  1. I met Jim when he was a volunteer in the mailroom at FirstHealth. Always such a gentleman and I loved the stories he would tell. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
