James Marion Butler, 97, of Robbins, North Carolina passed away peacefully June 9, 2023 at Autumn Care of Biscoe. 

He was born June 1, 1926 in Moore County NC to  the late John Marion Butler and Ocia Currie Butler. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his military service he made a career in textiles. He was married to Lois Kennedy. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Robbins.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, siblings: Jeroylene Butler, Sybil Butler Inman  (Mark) & Carlton Currie Butler (Louise) and nephew Bryan Keith Inman. 

He is survived by his two daughters Kay Dancy (Darrell) and Myra Cockerham, 4 grandchildren Tyler Dancy (Alison), Jillian Dancy, John Cockerham (Elaine) and Kelley Cockerham; 4  great grandchildren; Harper, Reagan, Paxton and Oden.

Memorial service will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall,  with the Reverend Kenneth McNeill officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church. A private burial will be held at High Fall United Methodist Church Cemetery.

  6. I was so glad to see your Dad when we moved back to Robbins, Barry and he shared many conversations over gardening and taking care of grapes. We have missed him and are sorry for your grief and yet we know Butler is in heaven with Lois and we will see him again because he loved the Lord and so do we. Kay Lois and Myra, Annette and I will always remember our childhood as a wonderful blessing. What a great neighborhood of children and parents who helped each other. Our prayers are with you. I enjoyed our meetings as I always came away encouraged by his wisdom, wit and evident concern for me. I admired his commitment to church, family and especially Mrs. Butler in her sickness.
