Mr. James Paul Garner, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. 

 

Paul was born May, 6 1929 in Moore County to Jonah E. and Laura Brown Garner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Geneva Lemonds, Mary Dunlap, Louise Cole, Faye Stephenson, Ann Early; brother: Joe Garner; and daughter-in-law: Angel Garner. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Betty Moore Garner; daughters: Paula Lineberry and husband Carl, Patsy Chriscoe and husband Mike; sons: Keith Garner, Mark Garner, Nathan Garner; sister-in-law: Loretta Garner;  nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. 

 

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord and would be the first to tell you he was a Blessed man. He was a member of Robbins First Wesleyan Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught men’s Bible Class for many years. He loved the outdoors, riding horses, hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He enjoyed sharing these activities and teaching others about them as well. Paul retired from Randolph Telephone Membership Corporation after 20 years of service.

 

Funeral service will be 2:30 PM, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Robbins First Wesleyan Church, with Reverend Cameron Dockery and Reverend Barry Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Needhams Grove Baptist Church.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, May 21, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

 

Memorial may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.

He was a big part of my childhood growing up riding horses. Paul, and my Daddy were very good friends.
