James Russell Overton, age 70 of Carthage died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Doubs Chapel UMC cemetery conducted by Pastor Dana Brewer. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

 

A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Walter Clyde and Estelle Short Overton. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam war and was an accomplished brick and rock mason.

 

He is survived by his sons: Chad Overton and wife Peggy of Carthage, Thad Overton of Carthage; sister Ann Brewer and husband Dana of West End; brother Doug Overton and wife Sue of Carthage; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

  5. Dear Overton family….Our sympathies are with you. Russell built the chimney onto our house many years ago.-  When asking for recommendations for someone to do the job, his name was always given. Keep the wonderful memories close.
