Janice “Jan” Lynn Garner, 56, of Robbins, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 29th, 2022, at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC.

She was born on June 23rd, 1966, to James and Aileen Garner, of Robbins, NC. She is also survived by her brother, Gene Garner; niece, Zoe Garner; nephew, Clay Garner, all of Robbins; uncles, Lee Britt (Joyce) of Robbins and Daniel Britt of Mims, Florida; and a multitude of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Melvina Garner, Wilbert and Maude Britt, step-grandmother, Onnie Hinson Britt, and her aunt, Betty Britt (wife of Daniel).

Jan’s life changed forever at the age of 15 when she suffered a traumatic brain injury. Before her injury, Jan was active at North Moore High School where she loved spending time with friends. Her best friends included Robin Ritter, Lisa Brady, Christy Key, and her cousin Leslie Sickler. Jan enjoyed riding her motorcycle through the woods at her home and listening to music. Some of her favorite artists were Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Foreigner, and her favorite song was Free Bird. She had a love for animals, especially dogs. Her favorite was a golden retriever mix named Sandy.

The family would like to thank all of Jan’s great caregivers over the years for their love, care, and devotion; Rebecca Alice Hussey, Winda Cagle, Carol Maske, Gwen McNeill, Lynn Pennington, Larry Marie Garner, Edith Martindale, and most recently Ann Marie Musselwhite.

It has been many years since we have heard Jan’s infectious laugh and seen her beautiful smile. Jan will always be our beautiful teenage girl with a love of nature and boundless energy. We would also like to thank the community and our extended family for all the support throughout the years.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jerome Smith and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Smyrna Family Life Center. Please feel free to bring any photos you have of Jan to the service.
