Jay P. Lehr, 84 of Southern Pines NC formerly from Reading, PA passed away peacefully at his home on December 17, 2011. He was the husband of Cassie Myrick Lehr.
A memorial service will be held on January 7, 2012 at 3pm at Southern Pines United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.

Born in York, PA., he was the son of Mabel and John Lehr.
Jay was a faithful member of Southern Pines United Methodist Church where he was a choir member, also a member of the Golf Capital Chorus and Barber Shop Quartets. He retired from Armour and Co. at age 59 and moved to Southern Pines to pursue his passion of golf.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother Theodore of York, PA. Three sons, one daughter and two step-sons. James Lehr and wife Laurie of Atlanta GA, Mark Lehr and wife Gail of Kenhorst, PA., and Scott of Kenhorst, PA., Rena Zapata wife of Dr. William Zapata of Sinking Spring, PA., Joe, and wife Lauren Salazar of Springfield, VA., and Myrick Salazar of Houston, TX.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and two step granddaughters. Kimberly and husband Marvin Delong of Temple, PA., Matthew Lehr of Kenhorst PA., Heather and husband Douglas Snyder of Mooresville NC., Amy and husband Michael Griesemer of Sinking Spring PA., Rowan and Brynn Salazar of VA. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters
He has 7 great grand children; Brianna, Brittani, Drew and Kaylee Delong of Temple, PA., Brandon and Kirsten Snyder of Mooresville, NC, and Mariah Texter of Sinking Spring, PA.,
In lieu of flowers the family request donation in Jay's name to the American Heart Association 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979 o the American Diabetes Association P O Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
