Jean Kennedy Gray

September 3, 1962 ~ January 8, 2025
Jean Kennedy Gray, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025 at the age of 62. Born September 3, 1962, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Jean spent most of her life in Robbins, North Carolina, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion.
Jean’s dedication to caring for others was evident throughout her life. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1985 at Sandhills Community College and later furthered her education, graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1999. She poured her heart into her work as a nurse at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and later transitioned to the rewarding field of home healthcare. Her passion was simply to help those in need, a testament to her selflessness and giving nature.
Above all, Jean cherished her family. She found immeasurable joy in her role as a mother and grandmother (“Nene”), showering her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and affection. Her family was the center of her world, and their happiness was her greatest priority. Her love for her furbabies was equally profound; she spoke often and fondly of Oscar and Zac, and per her wishes, Oscar’s ashes will be laid to rest with her. Little Girl, her cherished companion, will undoubtedly miss her deeply.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Montjoy Kennedy, and her son, William Allred III. She is survived by her father, Carlton Kennedy; her sister, Patty Kennedy Chalflinch (Tony); her daughter, Amanda Lester (Brandon); her son, Aaron Allred (Victoria); and her cherished grandchildren, Brayden and Alyssa Lester, and Hadlee and Bridgette Allred.
A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM, on January 13, 2025 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, NC. All who knew and loved Jean are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.

My condolences to all the family. She was such a kind nurse during my mother’s recovery journey from a car accident. She always showed compassion when she would visit our house to attend my mother’s wounds. I was a young teenage girl, but I remember it so well. Following the years ahead when she would see me out in town, she would always speak to me and ask about my mom.
Praying for her family during this time.
Prayers for Carlton, Patty and family. Jeany was always with a smile and helping hand for those in need. Cherished memories of Jeany and sis getting an orangeade or babysitting together. RIP until we are all called home!
She was an excellent nurse and I enjoyed working with her when I was in home health. She will be missed. God has another angel! I am saying a special prayer for her family.
