Jeanne Walsh Hildebrand, 87, of Southern Pines, passed on to her heavenly home on March 13, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Jeanne was born January 25, 1926 in Scranton, Pa. the daughter of the late Martin and Helen Hanlon Walsh. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Gerard (Jerry) Hildebrand. Jeanne resided in Knollwood Village for the past 16 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Prior to moving to Southern Pines, Jeanne resided in the Scranton, Pa. area. During World War II, she was employed by the U.S. Government at Hickman Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii in the short wave radio operations area. She later was employed by the International Correspondence School as a test results administrator. In later years, she was a real estate salesperson for the Fred Evans Realty Company, Clarks Summit, Pa. While in the Scranton area, Jeanne was member of the Scranton Canoe Club, and the Scranton Century Club. She loved to play golf and bridge with her many friends and continued those passions when relocating to the Sandhills.
But her greatest joys were spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved to write them letters and never missed an occasion to send a card. She attended as many plays, recitals, Little League games and award ceremonies as possible. She passed on her love of reading to her family and her love of the North Carolina Beach and the New Jersey Shore where she spent so many happy weeks each year. She will live on in the hearts of her family as their beloved and irreplaceable Mimi. Everyone will tell stories of her wonderful spaghetti sauce to all the next generations.
A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held at Sacred Heart Church with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th. There will be a private family interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
