Joan Snyder Grant

Joan Snyder Grant, 83, of Southern Pines, NC, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Penick Village, Southern Pines, NC.

Joanie was born on September 5, 1940 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the late Erwin and Arlene Moyer Snyder.

Joanie was very involved in her community for most of her life.

She served as the President of her Church Council and was an advisor for the decoration and construction of the Social Hall of her Church. A lifelong lover of music, she sang in her Church’s choir in virtually every church she attended.

Joanie loved to arrange flowers. Every Wednesday and Friday she would meet with a group of women at Meadowbrook Hall ( a mansion north of Detroit) to arrange flowers for those who toured the 108 room mansion. Joanie loved her Wednesdays and Fridays.

Joanie was a member of Women of the Pines and The Professional Education Association (P.E.O.). She also loved playing bridge with two Women’s Bridge groups and belonged to two different Book Clubs.

Joanie was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jane Snyder Dickison.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Lee Grant; her two sons and daughter-in-law Jim (Bridget) Grant of Sapphire Valley, NC; and Tom Grant of Clarkston, MI. She had four grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held in remembrance of Joanie at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines. 517 Luther Way, Southern Pines, NC. with Pastor Frank Waugh and Chaplain Colette Bachand officiating. It will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024.at 11:00 AM.
