Joel Stephen Hussey, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at his home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Acorn Ridge Baptist Church, with Dr. John Williamson officiating.   The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM and at other times at the home of his daughter, Crystal Bartholomew.

A native of Moore County, and he attended North Moore High School.  He worked for Walker Shoe until the plant closed. Joel loved working with and caring for his mules.  He enjoyed Farmers Day and other times gathering with folks that owned mules or horses.. Joel enjoyed many trips to the Amish Country.   Time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was very important to him.

 He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nola, daughter: Leslie Hussey.

Joel is survived by daughters: Crystal Bartholomew and husband Phillip, Megan Hussey and fiance, John Garner; son: Bradley Hussey and wife Tiffany; grandchildren: Corey (Sanona), Zack, Lauren, Summer, Hunter, Brookie, Aleah, Caleb, Brantley, Mason and Caden, great-grandchildren:  Malaki, Oliver, Adaline and Brooklyn; and many friends:

    Kim and I are grieved for you all in your loss of Joel. He was a friend to all he met especially me. He always had a word of encouragement for me and was always glad to see me. I appreciate his friendship and cherish it in my heart. I loved him and Nola. He loved his family and I remember him and Nola showing up for you all in your endeavors.
