John C. Davison, age 96, of Belle Meade died Monday (9/19/2011) at his residence.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday (October 14, 2011) at Belle Meade conducted by the Rev. Carl Naylor.
Mr. Davison grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and went on to complete graduate work at Harvard University and American University receiving a graduate degree in Public Administration.
Mr. Davison taught four years in the Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA. where he met his future bride, Carlyn Blake. He served in the military service five years during World War II. He worked in the Pentagon for 29 years, first for Headquarters, USAF; then for the Defense Intelligence Agency. He retired to Whispering Pines, NC from Arlington, VA. He was one of the first residents of Belle Meade and had lived there the past 11 years.
He was a member of the Carthage Methodist Church where he was very active in the Methodist Men and taught Sunday School for many years. Mr. Davison was also a member of the Southern Pines Lions Club for 25 years, fulfilling many different positions and receiving numerous awards for his service. In addition, he was a volunteer at the Moore County Medical Center for 26 years in the medical records department.
He is survived a son, Dr. John B. Davison and his wife, Anne, of Laguna Hills, CA and a daughter, Alice J Nicol and her husband, Fred, of Riverton, WY. Mr. Davison had five granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by an infant son, Robert, and his wife, Carlyn.

Internment will be at the Greencastle, PA cemetery.
