John James O’Hara, age 52, of Whispering Pines passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his home after a two year illness.
John is survived by his wife, Marlene Bibey O’Hara; brothers, Arthur O’Hara of Whispering Pines, Robert O’Hara and wife, Pamela of Pinehurst and James O’Hara and wife, Judy of Hawthorne, New Jersey. John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur O’Hara, Sr. and Mary O’Hara and a brother, Edward O’Hara.
John was born in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, attended Midland Park High School and later, Wingate University in NC. He was employed by Pinehurst Tennis Club for many years. An avid sports fan and all around good guy; John will be sorely missed by his many friends, family members; cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on April 5, 2014 at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church, 3820 Vass Carthage Road, Carthage, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
