John Sartori
June 3, 1949 ~ January 13, 2024
John Sartori passed away on January 13, 2024, with his family by his side. An angel on Earth, he is now an angel in Heaven.
John was born on June 3, 1949 in Corona, New York. A graduate of New York City public schools, he worked for his father’s delivery service company in NYC, and later as a maintenance porter for the housing complex where he lived in Bayside, NY. He was a proud union member and a lifetime lover of animals.
During his life, John experienced significant health issues that limited his ability to live independently, but dealt with them with a grace few would be able to muster. When his parents, John and Margaret, developed their own health issues, John moved from NYC to Pinehurst to live with his beloved sister Jane Deaton and her husband Brian. It was a blossoming time for him. When the Pinehurst Post Office was still in the Village Center, he would walk in every day to get the mail and meet both regular and new friends. With an engaging personality, John was not one to be a stranger for long. After the Post Office closed, John would still walk into the village regularly and enjoy lunch at the Village Deli.
In 2020, John moved to Fox Hollow Senior Living, where he was beloved by both residents and staff, as well as very well-cared for. It was another blossoming opportunity in his life as he was able to meet more people and participate in the many social activities provided there.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his adored cat, Darla. He is survived by his sister Jane, brother-in-law Brian, and cat Archie, all of Southern Pines.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2, at 11 AM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 350 E. Massachusetts Ave. in Southern Pines, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Contributions in his memory may be made to Animal Advocates of Moore County, PO Box 3399, Pinehurst, NC 28374.

Johnny found joy in everything he did whether it be a root canal or a hospital stay..whatever.His love was reserved for his sister Jane and then his beloved cats.We took many trips together and now he has embarked on the greatest trip of all..if Johnny was able he would say his life was 5 star and as he winged his way to Heaven I. I can hear him saying “So far so good”…….Rest in peace sweet man.☘️
