Josef Wilhem Kroes, age 88, died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Kingswood Nursing Care.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at Powell Funeral Home.
Born in Holland, he was the son of the late Joseph & Elizabeth Kroes. He retired from Ford Motor Tractor Division in 1988. Josef was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed golf, swimming, painting, gardening, the beach, traveling and his dogs, Jo-Jo & Muffin.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy Verney Kroes; three daughters, Aleida Anne Kroes Mackey of Wilmington, Catherine Susan Kroes Becroft of St. Claire Shores, Michigan, Julia Elizabeth Kroes Smith of Sterling Heights, Michigan; one son, Joseph William Kroes of Sterling Heights, Michigan and one step-son, Daniel A. Verney of Felicity, Ohio; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Powell Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Kroes family.

I am so sorry to read of Mr. Kroes passing. He was a customer of mine at the Holiday Inn for Sunday brunch.for many years. He was always so cheerful and kind. I looked forward to our little conversations. I know he will be greatly missed by all his family
