Julie Ilene Cockman, age 82, entered into heaven on July 13, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. 

A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late James Rufus Williams and Essie Ann Frye Williams.

 Ilene loved working in her flower gardens, reading her bible, cooking for family, and spending time with loved ones. She worked many years in the textile mills and raised chickens. 

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lois Williams Vest, and her loving husband of 49 years William Felt Cockman. 

She is survived by her daughter Katrina Burns and husband Randall, Julia Stewart and husband Randall, and son Keith Cockman and wife Cathy. 

Grandchildren, Nicholas Burns, Daniel Burns, Samantha Burns, Melanie Stewart, and Matthew Stewart. 

She is also survived by her sister Marjorie Williamson. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Southern Pines, NC, with Pastor Gregg Newton officiating. The body will be open for viewing at 2 PM prior to the service. The family will receive family and friends at Ilene’s resident on Thursday, July 15, 2021 and Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4-8 pm. 

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, PO Box 386, Southern Pines, NC 28327.

  4. My condolences to the Cockman family. I did not know Ms. Ilene personally but work I with her daughter who is one of the sweetest person I know and I am grateful for crossing paths with her. Now I know where she gets her sweet sweet spirit from.   10. My mother Carolyn Benjamin was good friends with her. She came up to my house and stayed with my grandmother when my mother was in the hospital. She was a sweet lady. So sorry to hear about this.

  11. My family will miss Grandma Ilene. She was such a kind and loving person. From the moment I met her she accepted me and my family as her own. She will be greatly missed by us. Katrina, we love you and we are praying for your family.

  12. This women was my life saver as a member of her family and being a young mother in the late 70’s.
