Mary Kathryn “Kay” McIntosh Davis, age 96 of Carthage died Tuesday (August 5, 2014) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Carthage United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Matthue Locklear. There will be a private entombment service at Cross Hill Mausoleum.

 

A native of Badin, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Albian and Vivian Clapp McIntosh. She was an active member of the Carthage United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. A graduate of Kings Business College, in Greensboro, N.C., she worked for Carthage Fabrics as an office manager from the time they opened until her retirement at age 70.

 

As a 2012 recipient of the Governor's Award for Voluteer Service she was recognized for her faithful service to Manna, Carthage UMC Food Pantry, Carthage Historical Society, Carthage Garden Club, and service as a Master Gardener. She was also the first Worthy Grand Matron of the Eastern Star.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Welborn “Webb” Davis.

 

She is survived by: sons Mickey Davis and wife Judy of Norcross, GA, Larry Davis and wife Kaye of White Plains, GA., six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Saturday.
