Kenneth Martin Eder, age 65 of Carthage died Saturday, December 15, 2018 unexpectedly in an accident while working at the Norfolk-Southern Railroad site in Spencer, NC.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday in the International Harvesters Building at Ederville. The family will receive friends at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home.

 

A native of Erie County NY he was a son of the late Martin Joseph and Mary Ann Schmitz Eder. Ken owned and operated Mideast Railroad Service. He was a collector of trains and tractors, and every year in November he and his wife Patti would host the 100+ Years of Progress show. This annual event grew very quickly over the years and thousands of people would come from all over the country to see Ken’s unique collections. He would have demonstrations of old steam engines, tractor pulls and an annual antique auction.  Men, women, families and children of all ages would be fascinated by all that Ken did.

 

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patti Taylor Eder; sons Kenny Eder, Kevin Eder, Paul Eder all of NY; step daughters Amanda May of Carthage, Rhonda May of Carthage and Kristy Taylor of Lillington; brothers Robert Eder and wife Barb of NY, Mike Eder and wife Sherri of Carthage, Joe Eder and wife Karla of NY; eight grandchildren.
