After a prolonged illness, Larry McArthur Purvis passed away at his home in Carthage on July 18, 2024. Born on February 4, 1943, in Wilmington, NC to the late Norman and Bonnie Purvis. Larry spent his career in the family business at NG Purvis Farms. He was an avid outdoorsman his entire life and always up for an adventure. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing and sharing that passion with his friends and family.

Larry is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Betty G. Purvis; daughters: Angelina Bunch (Paul) and Audrey Barnhill (Kelly); Siblings: Marie McFayden (Robert), sister-in-law Judy Purvis, Jerry Purvis and David Purvis; Grandchildren: JoAnna Nordland, Tommy Nordland (Tiffany), Hallie Barnhill, and Macie Wolfington (Hunter); Great-Grandchildren: Shyloh Blandford, Dalton, Wyatt & Delilah Nordland and Beckett Wolfington. He is preceded in death by: Brother: Melvin Purvis; Grandson: Joshua Nordland; Sisters-in-law: Beverly Purvis and Tracey Purvis.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 651 Hemp Street, Robbins, NC on Sunday July 21, 2024 at 3pm. Public viewing for family and friends will be open 2pm – 2:45pm prior to the service. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

  7. Larry was always so good to me and my children. He had constant love in his heart for all of his family. He helped me in so many ways through the years. He was an exceptionally generous and unselfish man, always thinking of ways he could help others. I’m looking forward to seeing him in glory.
