Mrs. Lela Williams Brown 98, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen W. Brown in 2006. She is survived by daughter, Julie B. Lanier and husband T. Stewart Lanier of Jamestown, N. C. and grandchildren, Aimee Lanier, Thomas Lanier and Alyson Lanier Kennedy all of the Greensboro area. She was blessed to know her 9 month old great grandchild, Mackenzie Kennedy and is survived by one sister Odessa Williams Edwards Beaufort, N. C.
Mrs. Brown was born in Robbins, N. C., Moore County, the daughter of the late Walter and Julianne McNeill Williams on February 17, 1913. She was a graduate of Elise Academy and Pineland College. A former school teacher and homemaker, she and her husband Allen lived in Raleigh most of their married life where he practiced law. They were active members of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC where Lela taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. In later years she lived near her daughter and family and attended First Baptist Church of Greensboro.
The funeral service will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, N.C., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM and graveside gathering at Pine Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at Kennedy Funeral Home.
