Lewis “Tommy” Stutts, age 63, of Carthage died Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Eugene Ussery. Burial will follow in Cross Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter Mary Ann.
A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Lewis Burley Stutts and Alice Faye Nall Stutts Mercer. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman and worked most of his life as a painter. He enjoyed his family and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Lee Stutts and his stepfather Billy Mercer.
He survived by his daughters Mary Ann Cook and husband Waylon of Carthage, Tina McNeil and husband Chris of Pinebluff, Toni Stutts of Carthage and Eric Payne of Southern Pines; sister Felicia M. Phillips and husband Lee, brother Billy Lee Mercer; sister-in-law Cherri Mercer; grandchildren Kristen, Thomas, Caleb, Luke, Jake, Laci and Danielle; great-grandchildren Raegan, Jaxon; his former wife Phyllis Stutts and his two beloved dogs, Migg and Reese.
