Lewis W. Pate, 86, of Whispering Pines died Wednesday May 8, 2013.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Born May 10, 1926 in Cumberland County he was a son of the late Ed and Sarah Collins Pate.
Lewis was a Public Affairs Officer for the United States Information Agency traveling to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Peru, Mali, The Congo, and Uruguay. He was an artist and a member of the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sonja Marie Pate of Whispering Pines, one son, Michael Pate of Columbia, MD, one brother, Arthur Pate of Omaha, NE, and two grandchildren.
