Mrs. Lib W. Underwood, age 80 of Carthage died Monday (April 9, 2007) at the home of her son in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Rick Martindale. Burial will follow in Cross Hill Cemetery.
A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late James and Decie Councilman Welch. She graduated from Pinehurst High School and then Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh. After working for Paul Dana and Pinehurst, Inc. for 5 years, she came to the Moore County Clerk of Superior Court's Office where she retired after 28 years of service and was the Assistant Clerk of Court in charge of the Civil Court Division. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women, The Monday Bridge Club, the Carthage Women's Club and the D. A. R. Her volunteer work included the Samaratins Purse, the American Red Cross Blood Mobiles and Hospice of Watauga County where she maintained a second home at Linville Land Harbor. Her husband Charles Underwood preceded her in death.
Survived by: daughter Mary Anne Hurych and husband Lawrence of Winston-Salem; son Frederick Underwood of Raleigh; brother James Lee Welch of Pinehurst; three grandchildren Paul Michael Hurych of Media, PA and Anna and Mitchell Underwood both of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends 6:30 —8:00 P. M. Wednesday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1003 Vass-Carthage Rd., Carthage.
