Linda Bullard Hammond, age 76 of Whispering Pines died Saturday (February 13, 2016) at Manor Care of Pinehurst.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Gregg Newton. Entombment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

 

A native of Bladen County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Scott and Pauline Hill Bullard. Linda graduated from Bladenboro High School and East Carolina University. She worked as a school teacher in Cumberland, Chowan, and Harnett counties early in life and then in Moore County where she retired.

 

Linda was very talented and enjoyed sewing and playing the piano and organ. She also enjoyed painting, arranging flowers, and making wreaths.

 

She was preceded in death by: two sisters Maxine B. Rozier and Alma B. Thompson Head.

 

She is survived by: her husband of nearly 48 years Charles Hammond; sons Charles Hammond, Jr. and wife Jessica of Charlotte, Walt Hammond and wife Leigh Anne of Summerfield; grandchildren Grace and Amelia Hammond of Summerfield who were the apple of her eye; sisters Adele B. Rozier of Lumberton and Joline B. Kinlaw of Bladenboro.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage and other times at the home.
