Lydia Hazel Williams Brown, age 92, passed to her heavenly home on Monday afternoon, April 20, 2020.

She was a loving wife and a sacrificial mama to her children, Larry and Ruby,

Hazel will be remembered for her delicious cakes and fried apple pies, as well as all of the beautiful quilts that she made and gave away, over the years. She was a homemaker most of her life, but did enjoy working at Southern Garment, Robbins and at Miss Adventure, Biscoe.

Born on February 19, 1928 to Q. A. and Ettie Jane Williams, Hazel was the youngest of thirteen children. She married Russel E. Brown on April 24, 1948 and would have celebrated 72 years of marriage on Friday, April 24th.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings; Grady, Ollie Hattie, Clarence, Lester, Claude, Nettie, Atlas, Shelton, Edna, Dorothy and John.

She is survived by her husband Russell; son: Larry (Donna); daughter: Ruby (Eddie), grandchildren: Matina, Jason, Kenton (Kyndal) and Jonathan (Amber); great-grandchildren: Alexis, Meagan, Cohen, Bentley, Britton and John Luke; brother-in-law: Odell Brown,  sisters-in-law: Ineta Brown Brewer, Octavia Brown Baxter; and countless nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a Moore County native and a graduate of the first class of 12-Years-of-Education at Elise High School in Robbins.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 24, 2020 at Pleasant View Friends Church Cemetery, Eagle Springs, NC, with the Reverend Quint Dunlap officiating. The body will lie in state from 3 PM until 6 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Hazel was a member of Pleasant View Church and memorial gifts may be made to the Church Paving Fund, 13942 NC Hwy 24/27, Eagle Springs, NC 27242.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Autumn Care of Biscoe for the loving care provided to Hazel.

    Not too long ago, we were where you are right now and we understand the depths of your grief and sadness. The pain of losing your mother will never completely go away. But as time passes, you become better at dealing with it. You will more often remember the good times and the joy you shared with Aunt Hazel and not so much of her suffering at the end. Lean on each other and your family when you can. We love you!

  8. Ruby and family – Hazel was a set lady and we cherish the times we had with her at Pleasant View and her home, she will be missed.
    Hang on to the memories. We are sure they are many and full of love. You have all been blessed to have had such a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend for such a long time. Time – seems so short when we lose a loved one, but cling to those memories and the love that you shared and it will get you through the tough days and times ahead. Love and prayers to each of you.
