Mabel Garner Ritter, 80,  passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC.  

 

Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Reverend David Woodhouse and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating.  The body will lie in state from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 and from 8:00 to Noon on Thursday, May 14, 2020  at Kennedy Funeral Home.  Due to COVID 19 no family visitation is planned. 

 

Mabel was a native of Moore County. She graduated from Highfalls High School and was the class Valedictorian.  Mabel worked in textiles and retired from the Moore County Schools, where she worked in Food Service.   She loved the Lord and her church.  Mabel was a member of the Smyrna Ladies Sunday School Class, the Women’s Society and was one of the first church librarians. Her family was always her life.  She provided childcare and love to all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was watching game shows on television and also working crossword puzzles. Mabel enjoyed many trips to the mountains with her sister, Brenda. Mabel was a daughter of the late Herbert Carson and Julia Belle Maness Garner and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Tracy Ritter; brother: Wayne Garner.  

 

Mabel is survived by daughters: Karen Anderson (Tom), Wanda Ritter (Steve), both of Robbins; granddaughters: Samantha Colbert (Curtis), of Advance, Jessica Dunn (Garland), of Robbins; great grandchildren: Alexis, Brooklynn, Calleigh, Wyatt, Madison;  sister: Brenda Garner; brother: James Garner (Barbara); many nieces, nephews and friends.
