Malcolm Toon

Ambassador Malcolm "Mac" Toon, 92, of Pinehurst. He is survived by his children, Barbara Lindenbaum of Marietta, GA, Alan Toon of West End, NC, Nancy Toon of Southampton, NY, and three grandchildren. Born in 1916 in Troy, NY he was the husband of the late Betty Jane Taylor.
A WWII U S Navy veteran and retired as a Lt. Commander. From 1946 to 1960 he continued to serve as a Foreign Service Officer in a variety of posts including post-war Warsaw, Budapest, and Berlin. He was assigned to the American Embassy in London form 1960 to 1963. He served as an American Ambassador in Moscow, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Israel, USSR, Geneva, Washington, London, Paris, and Vienna until 1979. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
