Marcia Tyson Kelly, age 81, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Born in Mecklenburg County, Marcia was the only child of the late James Tyson and Virginia Coggins Tyson.
She was creative, talented, and enjoyed many interests throughout her life. A gifted pianist, she played for churches during her younger years.
Marcia had a silly sense of humor and enjoyed playing tricks on people. She loved decorating, gardening, and cooking. Whenever Marcia went out, she wanted to look her best and was always nicely dressed and wearing jewelry she loved. Dogs held a special place in her heart and were among her favorite companions.
Marcia worked for several years as a legal secretary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Rives Kelly.
She is survived by her three sons, Scott Kelly and wife, Marie, of Eden; Keith Kelly and wife, Angie, of Carthage; and Brad Kelly and wife, Rachelle, of Mint Hill. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, at Cross Hill Cemetery.
