Margaret Jean Diggs Smith

Margaret Jean Diggs Smith, 81 passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her home in the loving care of her family after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 10,, 2013 at Unity Grove Baptist Church, with the Reverend Archie Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Anson County, but lived most of her life in Moore County. She was a daughter of the late George A. Diggs and Eli A. and Margaret P. Caudle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings (Sam) Smith, brothers: Bill, Dee, Alex, Millard, Wayne and Bruce Diggs.
Survivors include her sons: Sammy Smith and wife Mary Margaret, of South Carolina, Lester Smith, of the home Carthage, Vester Smith and wife Brenda, of Carthage, David Smith and wife, Hope, of Cameron, Bryon Smith and wife Jennifer, of Carthage, sisters: Rosa Lee Ganis, Virginia Cade, Frances Graham and husband Phillip, brother: Joe Diggs and wife Audrey, 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
