Dorothy Marie Meeks Raynor, age 84 formerly of Fayetteville died Sunday (January 2, 2010) at Peak Resource - Pinelake in Carthage.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at LaFayette Memorial Park.
Born in Danville, VA she spent most of her life in Fayetteville. In 2002 she moved to Carthage to live with her daughter. After graduating from high school she attended Worth Business College. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fayetteville and retired as a finance officer with Civil Service at Ft. Bragg. Her husband Kensie Raynor preceded her in death. She was an avid lover of animals and believed in taking care of the less fortunate.
She is survived by: her daughter Dawn Barber and husband Dickey of Carthage; son Steve Raynor and wife Cathy of Avon, NY and Blythewood, SC; brother Thomas Meeks of Thomaston, GA; sister-in-law Uretha Meeks of Stoughton, MA; grandchildren Christopher Burrows and wife Marsha of Whispering Pines, DanielleRaynor of Avon, NY; special friend and caregivers Rosie Stancil of Southern Pines and Emily McKenzie of Aberdeen and several nieces and nephews from the east to the west coast.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dawn and Dickey Barber in Carthage.
