Marion B. Roberts, 96, died peacefully Sunday, August 8, 2010, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
A native of Rockford, Illinois, she graduated from Rockford High School. Mrs. Roberts and her husband, Lawrence, lived for many years in Freeport, Illinois, before retiring together to Scottsdale, Arizona. While living in Freeport, Mrs. Roberts enjoyed her work at Luecke Jewelers. She moved to Aberdeen, North Carolina, in 2004.
She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed playing and watching golf, visiting with her neighbors at Providence Place and traveling, especially to see her great-grandchildren. She was a lover of dogs and always looked forward to the Therapy Dog visits while residing at St. Joseph of the Pines.
A visitation and memorial service will be Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines. A Memorial Mass and burial will be at a later date in Freeport, IL.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Joan and Thomas Swieca; granddaughter, Katherine Swieca-Brockman and husband, Brian Brockman; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Mira Brockman; sister-in-law, Arline Dillon; nephew, Michael Dillon and his wife, Barbara.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Roberts; her parents, Joseph and Nellie Dillon; her brother, Chester Dillon and her sister, Jean Dillon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Joseph of the Pines Treasure Chest, 103 Gossman Dr., Southern Pines, NC 28387 or to the charity of your choice.
