Marion Holliman Weathers of Whispering Pines passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 30th at Pinehurst United Methodist Church. Rev. David Banks, Rev. Mike Garber and Dr. Terrell West will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Born March 20, 1930 in Toomsboro, GA, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Gervaise Maddox Holliman. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Georgia State Women's College in 1952. She began her career as a medical technologist at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Her last job was with FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where she retired after twenty years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering at church and playing the piano at Quail Haven.
She is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Bill Weathers, three daughters; Kim Weathers Lund and husband Chris of Madison, Alabama, Kelly Weathers Miller and husband Glenn of Greensboro, N.C., Kristy Weathers Black and husband Donald Robert (Bo) Black, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, one son; William Clint Weathers and wife Susan of Charlotte, N.C., two sisters; SuEllen James of Richmond, VA, Elaine Hearn of Winder, GA, three brothers; Doyle Holliman and wife Jeannette of Fairview, TX, Harold Holliman and wife Brenda of Cartersville, GA, Mike Holliman and wife Anne of Anderson, SC, eight grandchildren; Amanda Lee Lund, Casey Glenn Miller, Christopher Patrick Lund, William Seth Miller, Julia Marion Lund, Courtney May Weathers, William James Alvin Weathers and Hunter Weathers Black, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her faith in the Lord kept her strong through her many battles with cancer. We her family, were blessed beyond measure for the abundance of love that was her life, love that she so freely shared with everyone whose path she crossed. She will be enormously missed but will continue her motherly watch over us all.
